Mission Statement

To build and provide sheltered accommodation for people in Thailand with children the priority. This will be centred outside Chiang Mai city in Northern Thailand.

To assist people of all ages with education, especially children from an early age right through to higher education.

To support the Lisu Hill Tribe village of Nong Tong, Soppon and the surrounding villages in North West Thailand.

To respond compassionately to any needy situation as they present themselves in Thailand , such as housing , health matters , education.

For this coming year, the emphasis is on buying land within reach of Chiang Mai city, large enough to develop a complex to include living space, bedrooms, kitchen, dining room, laundry, recreation rooms, toilet and shower facilities and any other structure as deemed necessary. Also the site will be large enough to incorporate ornamental and kitchen gardens for training purposes and for part self-sufficiency.

Year two will see the development of the complex. The people staying here will be primarily young children, although we will respond to any given situation as it arises. There may well be other older children or young adults who may have special needs who may be accommodated on a long term basis. The emphasis in this home is going to be on providing a safe, secure and happy joyful home for vulnerable people.

Hence the name Baan Yindee, joyful home. It is intended to staff the home with local people who will be paid a just wage to help the local economy. Without putting the exact number on it , this home will cater for about 25 residents directly and many times that number indirectly.

With education been extremely expensive in Thailand, most people struggle to give their children any sort of decent education and for most higher education is a non starter. With the many levels of poverty in Thailand, the only way forward for young people is through education and that is something that will be very much part of this project both within the home and within the Lisu villages around Nong Tong.
